Festival season.....Coachella inspiration

The festival season is upon us.............even if the weather is holding back!!!
For my fellow Isle of Wighters, the count down has began for the Isle of Wight festival. In less than a month approx 60,000 people will descend to seaclose park in Newport to witness the likes of The Stone Roses, The Killers, Bon Jovi, Ellie Golding, Bloc Party, Sub focus & many, many, more acts.

Which ever festival you are hoping to attend this summer I'm sure your be planning your outfits accordingly. So I thought I would give you a helping hand with some inspiration taken from the world famous festival "Coachella" which is held in Palm springs in the USA.

The festival is held across two weekends, this year the weekends were April 12th-14th and then April 19th-21st. I desperately want to attend this festival, your pretty much guaranteed good weather as its set in the desert and the music and celeb sightings are enough for me to max out 1 or 2 credit cards to get there. I'm lucky enough to have visited Palm Springs whilst travelling two years ago and I loved it there!! It has an amazing atmosphere with a retro feel to it. So combining the unique and quirky location with a festival must be beyond epic.

At the beginning of this week I drove the 4hrs up to Barnsley, South Yorkshire to pick out all my festival stock and I got some great pieces. Lots of Levi's denim shorts, cropped motif tees, dungarees, cute blouses and shirts, midi & maxi skirts and stunning dresses. We also have branded denim jackets and sleeveless denim jackets, gorgeous embroidered waistcoats, ankle boots, leather belts, bags, sunglasses and scarves. With Love Betty is ready for the festival season, but make sure you get down here quick, each piece is a one off and once gone that's it I'm afraid. But at least you wont have the AWFUL issue of running into someone else wearing the same item of clothing as you, argh, that is not what you want!

Ive put together some images of the different types of outfits seen at Coachella, I hope you find them inspiring :)

MAXI & MIDI SKIRTS:

Wearing a maxi or midi skirt is such a simple yet effective way of standing out in the crowd. For the brave, pair with a crop top or if the sun is shinning why not wear a bikini top. A simple vest or tee will also look perfect for the less brave. We have a selection of skirts in store ranging from £25-£35.

 SHORTS:

Whether it be denim, leather, lace, printed or embellished shorts you bound to get it right. A favourite staple piece for any festival. Perfect for the IOW festival because if it gets cold you can just stick a pair of tights underneath. The different looks you can achieve is endless, crop tops, floaty sheer tops, motif tees, a simple vest, boots, sandals, really the outfit opportunities are vast. With Love Betty have a variety of Levi's denim shorts at only £25 each!! We also sell culottes, for those that wish to wear something completely different to everyone else. I personally want to get my leather shorts out this year.

DRESSES:

You can not go wrong with a simple dress, whether its short, midi or maxi. Personally I will be wearing a midi dress with buttons down the front so I can still show a subtle amount of leg. Floral prints are always a good choice but why not try something different and go for a Aztec or tribal print, or better yet try lace or embroidered dresses. If your creative you could always add some fringing to the bottom of your dress, perfect!

DUNGAREES:

Dungarees are set to be massive this year, esp denim dungarees. But if your not keep on a pair of short dungarees you could always try trouser ones or a dress one. We also have dungarees at With Love Betty at only £28 each. They have all been made out of vintage material, so they have a modern design :)

KIMONO:

For a stand out piece that can add a twist to any outfit you could wear a kimono, or better yet a fringed kimono. I love the look they portray, the image on the left is particularly inspirational, a simple pair of shorts with a vest, but the kimono sets it apart from everyone else, I also really love the hat!

INSPIRATIONAL IMAGES:

I hope you have found this post useful & hope it has inspired you for your festival outfits. Cant wait to see you all at the Isle of Wight festival :)

enjoy

Behind the scenes.....

Some of you would have seen on our Facebook page that I did a photo shoot on Sunday with 3 beautiful models. The photos look fantastic, I'm so pleased with the final outcome. So for those of you that haven't liked our Facebook page here are the photos with bonus behind the scene shots.

The outfits were chosen by myself the day before the shoot. Each individual outfit reflects the personality and style of the model of whom would be wearing it. Personally I think its a good idea to have an idea of what you want the models to wear so you are nice and organised on the day. This also give you the opportunity to make sure the different outfits fit together nicely.

The models got ready in the shop (the perfect dressing room) as it was a Sunday the shop was shut. Hair and make up were all done by the models themselves. I wanted them to be comfortable and look themselves as the main focus would be on the clothing. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a lover of bright lipstick so I incorporated that into the make-up.

Below are some before & after shots.....Before I edited the chosen pictures in photo shop.

I chose to take the pictures down on Medina quay, thankfully the sun was shinning however it was still cold, the models were freezing and kept jumping in Betty in between shots. As you can see Betty also features in the pictures.

I'm so pleased with the outcome of all the pictures and cant thank my models enough.

If you would like to check out the rest of the final pictures check us out on facebook, follow the link below:

Thank god for social networks!!!

Now personally I don't think I'm too bad at keeping up with social network trends. Facebook & twitter are the obvious ones, Ive been part of Instagram for at least 2 years and it is definitely becoming more popular. I'm obsessed with blogs, fashions blogs, lifestyle blogs, interior design blogs etc, I love finding new blogs to inspire my own work and imagination. I'm also slightly obsessed with Pinterest, although not as obsessed as some of my friends, naming no names but you know who you are ;)

So I'm a little bit disappointed in myself that I have only recently discovered the social aspect of ASOS.com. This is a website I have shopped on for years and years but I only heard about ASOS market place about a year ago. When I spoke to London friends about it their response was "you are kidding we've been shopping on ASOS marketplace for ages, its amazing, get with it Gemma and get your stuff on there quick!" So I have done just that :)

All items are available in store so you can still come in and try the item on, but this way you can shop whilst your at work or at home :) perfect!!

After discovering and conquering the world of ASOS marketplace I then discovered ASOS's fashion finder. Now I love this, this is a social network for fashion lovers. A chance for you to share and show off your styling skills and outfit ideas as well as looking for your own inspiration by looking at everyone else's. Its fab! You set up an account and start uploading your outfits. You can search through the MANY outfit uploads of everyone else on the site and like, comment & follow that individual. Its similar to following fashion blogs or Instagram. Its great to see how others would style a dress etc completely different to how you would style it.

Of course I had to set up an account for With Love Betty. So now you can go onto the site and vote for your favourite With Love Betty outfit. Its a great idea.

Make sure you check it out, even if its just to get some inspiration. Just click on "outfits & looks" on ASOS.com or follow the this link: http://fashionfinder.asos.com/user/With%20Love%20Betty/profile

I hope now you all feel inspired to get your camera out, grab some friends and start clicking!! Oh and a big thank you to my stunning models.

Let me know if you already use ASOS as part of your fashion fix. Are there any other sites you think I would find useful? Also let me know which outfit you like best :) Oh and also let me know if you do create an account so I can follow you :)

Thanks for listening.
