Mulberry in Somerset

Not many people know this about me but I'm originally from Somerset, in the west county, so basically in the countryside! Most of my family still live in the west country and I do love it when I go and see them. Especially my grandma who lives on the border of Somerset and Dorset, basically in the middle of nowhere. Your surrounded by miles of fields and quint villages with stone & thatched buildings and when travelling up the dual carriage way your be surprised that you have to over take a tractor or two, I love it!

Well David and I took the 2.5hr drive up to my grandmas for a few days over the weekend, it was perfect. We did nothing, just relaxed and watched films and ate my grandmas AMAZING food (she did a roast, it was beautiful). The best thing was (well this depends on personal preference) I had no 3G and she had no WiFi, so I was Internet free for 2 days. It was nice to have a break from it for a while!

Anyway enough about my grandmas hospitality, the whole point of this post is to tell you about what we did on our way back home. I asked David very nicely if he wouldn't mind taking a small detour to the small village of Shepton Mallet, which is about half an hour below Glastonbury, so I could FINALLY visit the Mulberry factory.

The factory resides in a beautiful old school building, which reflects the brands identity perfectly. Mulberry, which was established in 1971, has always been based in Somerset and is known for its quintessentially English style.

Its safe to say I was quite excited, the factory has a shop were you can find last seasons products or sometimes this seasons which may have a small defect, at a faction of the price. All items are discounted by 30% but if your lucky you could come across one at 50% or even 60%. I was loving it!!

I was particularly interested in the bags, I am a huge bag lover and I've wanted a Mulberry for ages. Even though I do own 2 already, OK one, the other is a VERY good imitation from Thailand. But my other one was an amazing find in a vintage store up in London, I just had to have it. However its the old scotch grain design, so I would like a more up to date style. And Oh my gosh I think I found the one!!

It is so beautiful, the leather is so soft and its the perfect style bag for me as a prefer a more casual design. Originally it was £695 but its was reduced down to £417. As you can imagine I was extremely tempted to whack the credit card out and walk off with a stunning Mulberry in Tow. However my Conscience (David) reminded me that I have only just started a new business and spending £400 on a bag is probably not the best idea. So I reluctantly put the bag back and walked away! :(

But Its fine I now have a goal and I aim to save up for the gorgeous number or at least one similar.

Now I must admit that when I got back into work I was straight on line looking to see if I could find it cheaper on eBay etc. I came across a few "Mulberry" outlet websites which look so authentic that you could easily assume they were the real deal, at extremely low prices. But after doing some research on the sed website it was clear to see that it was NOT authentic and I would have definitely have purchased a fake, a good one yes but not a real Mulberry. The website was http://www.shopmulberryoutletyork.co.uk/ I want to warn you about this particular site because there is an actual Mulberry outlet store in York, so you could easily think that this was the site for that genuine store, IT IS NOT!!!

So there you have it, so next time you are taking a trip to the gorgeous west country, or if your thinking of taking a short trip but not sure where to go, why not head to Somerset and lose yourself in the countryside and also visit the Mulberry factory.

Have you visited the factory? Have you had problems with fake on line stores? or do you dream about a particular designer bag? Let me know below!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr its cold outside

I am sooooooooooo over this cold weather!!!! I'm day dreaming of flip flops, sun glasses, BBQ's & ice creams!! At least it is nearing the end of Feb, so hopefully Spring will start to rear its beautiful head. I did see my first lot of daffodils the other day on my way to work so that's a good sign.

Even though I HATE the cold, I do love being able to wear my coats!! I love coats, I think they can finish off an outfit, giving that sed outfit a completely different look depending on the style of coat. The faux fur coat I'm wearing in this post is my first ever faux fur coat. Its vintage of course, purchased for me by my sister about 5 years ago. I have quite a few different faux furs, in different lengths, colours and styles. However I always end up coming back to this good old faithful one.

Faux furs have done really well in the shop this winter as you can imagine with this cold weather lingering. But we do still have a few left if you fancy one.

I was having quite a safe day with this outfit, a simple pair of black "Leigh" jeans and cameo print t-shirt from Topshop worn with my trusty white converse. Like I said, I think the coat really brings the outfit to life, making it look more glamorous than just a simple tee and jeans.

I'm really loving statement necklaces at the moment, they are a great way of adding something new and fresh to a old outfit. The geometric necklace is from Urban outfitters and my "G" Ive had since I was small.

Ha I'm really trying hard not to look cold in this image but I don't think I'm pulling it off very well!! My pink lipstick is from the Rimmel, Kate range.

I hope you are all coping with the cold, remember to keep warm.

Spring/summer stock trip

Last night my lovely sister and I drove the 4hr drive up to Barnsley, stopping at Frankie & benny's along the way yum yum, ready for our appointment this morning with the vintage suppliers, glass onion vintage.

As always we were greeted with huge smiles & warm welcomes, even though they were all freezing in the non-heated warehouse. Its hand pick week which gives u the opportunity to hand pick the clothes yourself (that simple) it's always a long process of picking through the tons of clothes available, but of course lots of fun too :)

So we've come home with lots of spring/summer finds. I'm esp excited about all the dresses we've got and beautiful leather bags & We got lots of Levi denim shorts in time for the festivals .

It's been a fab two days, love the road trip, we sang our little hearts out on the way up there to Beyonce & destinys child then enjoyed the gorgeous sunshine on the way home today! Just waiting for the ferry now to get back to the island (I swear that boat is the Bain of my life) and then I'm gunna get home and sort out all the stock ready for the week. So make sure u pop in.

Check out the pictures below of glass onion vintage.

My type of outfit....

I would say that this is MY outfit, meaning that this is the type of outfit I feel most comfortable in and love to wear. The type of outfit that when I wake up in the morning and really cant think what to wear or if I'm having one of those day were I hate all the clothes in my wardrobe, i will just put together a blouse or shirt with a pair of skinny jeans.

This khaki army shirt is really quite big on me but by rolling up the sleeves and balancing it out with skinny jeans and heels, I think I can get away with it. (let me know if you think otherwise)
This is an original army shirt, a German army shirt considering the badges of the German flag on either side of the arms. They can be found in store.

The necklace I'm wearing is one of my mums, I love this necklace as I can actually remember my mum wearing it when I was growing up. I'm not completely sure if she knows I have it (sorry mum), its very simple but I feel it is extremely effective.

Here I'm wearing a simple pair of black wedges I purchased from New Look last year. They are perfect as they're not that high but give me enough height to balance out the size of the shirt.

As its still cold I definitely need a coat/jacket with this outfit. My faux fur black coat is perfect as its slightly cropped so doesn't drown me and once again balances out the length of the shirt so I don't look like I'm all in black.

Oh and my burgundy fedora hat just adds a flash of colour. I love this hat, but if I wasn't in a hat mood then a flash of red lipstick would also be effective.

What do you think of my outfit? is there anything you would change? Or maybe add to the outfit?

Going casual

I don't know about you guys but Some days I wake up and I all I want to wear all day is my pj's!!
well walking through town could be embarrassing and I'm pretty sure id worry the customers and probably scare them off. So the other day I went for the next best thing, an over sized, slouchy American motif sweatshirt. I paired this with my extra comfy, slouchy boy fit jeans which I LOVE! Ive been a fan of boy fit jeans for years so its great to see them being worn everywhere at the moment, esp through out the pics of New York fashion week.

Now Ill let you into a little secret........I purchased these jeans (& another pair in bleached denim) last year from Topman!! I desperately wanted boy fit jeans but couldn't find any that fit me exactly how I wanted. I was the Topman brand manager at the time and whilst putting these jeans out one day I wondered what they would look like on me as they would be the ultimate boy fit jean, ,almost like wearing your boyfriends jeans. And what do you know, they fit perfectly. And bonus, they are ALOT cheaper than the equivalent down stairs in Topshop. So if your on the hunt for some boy fit jeans why not try a mans shop, kinda makes sense!!

I do love the colour of this sweatshirt, its extremely bright, and since changing my hair colour from blond to my natural colour of dark blond/light brown, I can now wear bright red a little easier. For my make-up I kept it simply, just mascara and a splash of red lipstick. I added a splash of turquoise by wearing a pair of turquoise stone ear rings, I do love red and turquoise together! My hair was just placed in a scruffy bun to keep in with the casual look.

As well as the earrings I wore a turquoise friendship bracelet with a round silver charm, as well as a red friendship bracelet. These where worn alongside my silver cuff which I purchased in Brighton.

So there you have it, you can still have your casual, cant be bothered days and still feel great! For these pictures I wore simple black wedges to add an edge but converse or wedged hi-tops would also look fantastic and would definitely be more comfy!

American motif sweatshirts can be found in store in an array of colours and different motifs. So come check them out.

Let me know what you think of my outfit. Is this an outfit you would consider wearing? how would you wear it differently? or do you not like it at all? All comments are welcome.

Thanks for reading as usual.

ditsy print & leather

I thought I'd post this outfit for you all to see (and judge if you like), now for people who don't know me I'm not really a dress kinda girl, I feel alot more comfortable in a pair of jeans matched with a blouse, tee or jumper. But I woke up this morning and the sun was shinning through my window and I thought why not, lets go for a dress. It may still be chilly but I put on a pair of thick black tights (and a long sleeve top underneath) with my leather jacket and pretended i wasn't shaking from the cold on my short walk from my car to the shop.

I do LOVE this dress. I got it in one of my shopping trips for the shop last summer and it didn't quite make it into the shop (sorry about that). It definitely has a 90's grunge feel about it, I cant wait to wear it in the summer bear legged, undone at the top with a black crop top underneath. I think people would probably say I'm a girlie dresser?! but i disagree, I don't wear alot of floral prints but when I do they are ditsy prints. Being petite it's not wise for me to wear large floral prints as they will drown me! I think I can just about get away with the length of this dress as long as I show a little leg, otherwise I risk the chance of making myself look even shorter than I am.

For the pictures I put on a leather jacket from the shop, its a size 10 with cropped sleeves, 100% leather. Would be great for the spring months. I LOVE the buckle detail on the sides. So if you like, come and have a look for yourself in store :)

I recently purchased the two necklaces I'm wearing in the photos, the larger triangle one is from Topshop, and the small arrow is from My house the gorgeous home boutique just down the lane from me. I usually wear silver but I couldn't resist the gorgeous arrow necklace, and when i saw the triangle one in Topshop I  thought they would look perfect together.

Re-worked leather shorts.

I had a huge delivery of leather shorts which are going to be massive for the spring/summer months. I decided to re-work some of them by adding studding. What do you think?

Some of them needing hemming so I decided to buy myself a sewing machine especially for the shop so I get creative through-out the day. I found this ever so cute sewing machine at dunelm mill for £15. Its perfect as it doesn't take up a huge amount of space in the shop. Its battery powered but by using re-chargeable batteries, I'm always on the go! I love it!!

I really love the shape of the shorts above, high waisted with flared legs which create a very flattering silhouette. The round studs adds a great modern twist.

What do you think of studding? Its everywhere on the high street and can completely change an item of clothing. I think its a great way to up-date pieces you haven't worn in a while.

Until next time,

Norwegian warmth and polka dot.

Just a quick outfit post.....

Now the Norwegians really know how to keep warm, I love all Norwegian knitwear, with its beautiful silver fastenings and extra thick wool. But this Norwegian jacket really does top all!! Its been given to be from a family member who has kept it hidden for many years. and I absolutely LOVE it. The colour is gorgeous (and I don't normal go for this type of green), the detail is beautiful and I love the over sized silhouette but best of all it is SOOOOOOO warm! The perfect addition to my winter wardrobe :)

I matched the jacket simply with a pair of black jeans and a black beanie as I didn't want to take focus away from the coat. A splash of red lipstick finishes off the outfit nicely.

Here's another outfit I wore this week....
As you all know I love blouses. They are a quick and easy piece which always looks fab. This is an oldie but a goodie, Its a cream & black polka dot blouse with a draped front. My mum gave it too me a few years ago and its stayed a staple piece in my wardrobe! This time I paired the blouse with my faux leather trousers which adds a sleek and slightly harsh twist to the feminine, floaty blouse. Its all about balance.

My hair & make-up reflects the girlish style of the blouse. Ive simply created two plaits each side of my head then overlapped them across the top, leaving my fringe down. The bright pink lipstick adds the right amount of colour.

What do you think of my outfits? Would you have styled them differently? Let me know what you think by commenting below.....
